Last month, we announced #ProjectRAID; the foray of Rynox into purpose-built off-road gear.
We’ve been working on #ProjectRAID for over a year now, and we’ve had amazing company along the way!
Ashish Raorane, rally athlete extraordinaire, has been a crucial part of #ProjectRAID since May 2021.
Ashish’s rallying experience and his ability to translate that experience into specifications and features of purpose-built off-road gear have been unparalleled during the product development phase of #ProjectRAID.
Over the last 10 years, Rynox has become synonymous with top-notch, feature rich gear and luggage. We have continuously built manufacturing capabilities to produce the best possible gear at the best possible price. And with our pan-India network of 150+ authorised dealers, 5 exclusive stores and an online webstore; we ensure that our gear is available across India.
Combining our strengths with Ashish’s experience and knowledge; Rynox will offer a comprehensive range of purpose-built off-road gear to every off-road enthusiast and competitive athlete in India!
Over the next few months, Rynox and Ashish will together reveal more milestones of the project; as we draw closer to the launch of #ProjectRAID!
Who is Ashish Roarane?
Ashish Roarane is a marine engineer by profession and a rally athlete by passion. Until 2015, Ashish’s passion for riding was limited to travelling and touring. It all changed in 2015; when two documentaries, a ride up a rocky trail and his first Indian National Rally Championship sparked a flame that has been raging since.
In 2015, on this maiden attempt at professional rallying Ashish secured a podium at the INRC rally held in Nashik, India. Next up was the almighty Raid de Himalaya, one of the highest rally raids in the world, in terms of the altitude at which it is held at. His Raid de Himalaya campaign saw him finish 6th in class and 12th overall.
Over the next few years, Ashish participated in various national and international events; and rapidly evolved his rally racing game. With every new achievement, he took one step closer to his ultimate goal, the legendary Dakar Rally!
In 2021, after persistent training and exhaustive planning, Ashish participated in Dakar! And if that wasn’t enough, he decided to participate in the toughest category overall - Malle Moto!
In the Malle Moto category, individuals on motorcycles and quads compete without any kind of external assistance; no team-mates, no mechanics, no crew. Ashish is the first and only Indian to participate in this category, to-date.
In stage 5, Ashish met with a massive crash that resulted in a head injury and immediate medical evacuation. Ashish was in the 20th position in his class at the time of the crash. But it’s not in Ashish’s nature to give up. With the same grit and determination that got him to the start line of Dakar; Ashish recovered, acquired the necessary medical clearance, and completed his first-ever Dakar rally in the experience category.
Ashish will be back at Dakar in 2023!
We have more monthly #ProjectRAID updates coming up!
